Connor's Visit Part II

The second weekend Connor spent with us we went down to the Royal Gorge and went white water rafting. We arrived at the place after a 3+ hour drive and got our life jackets on and helmets and it got really windy and then started storming before we loaded up the van. We went inside and our guide told us about safety and everything and at this point I was thinking there is no way this is happening. It's raining like crazy outside and its windy and theres thunder! Well it died down a little and we loaded up to head down to where we were going to start rafting. By the time we got to where we were getting in it had stopped raining but started up a little bit right before. But the crazy thing is that literally right when we got on the raft it stopped raining and just cleared up and ended up being a beautiful day! And it was so much fun! Erika and me were nervous about falling out because of the way the guide talked about the rapids but we never came close to that. It was a lot of fun :)

The next day we went up to Granby to go horseback riding. I was sore from rafting and we were on horses for almost 2 hours so I was hurting pretty bad but it was still fun. Dave was nervous about riding horses and of course he got the crazy one. His horse knocked over a trash can while Dave was on him before we even started the ride!

We had a great time while our nephew was here. Hope he comes back soon! He will have to let his aunts teach him to snowboard next time :) 

Connor's Visit Part I

My nephew, Connor, just graduated high school. Yeah I have an 18 year old nephew! Crazy! So as a graduation/birthday gift my parents sent him out here to Colorado for 10 days to spend some time with his awesome aunts :)

We did a lot of stuff! It was so fun but exhausting. He flew in on Friday and that evening Erika had a softball game but that next Saturday we drove up into the mountains to Estes Park and went into Rocky Mountain National Park to drive up Trail Ridge Road-the highest continuous paved road in the United States. It is closed in the winter and opens Memorial Day weekend. We were up there the weekend after and there was so much snow it felt like we were in another country.

After freezing on top of the mountain we headed back down into Estes where it was green and warm.

For dinner we went to our favorite place in Estes called Mama Rose's. It's italian and delicious. We all ordered the same tri colored pasta and and yummy bread and salad too. It was delicious!!!

After dinner we went to The Stanley Hotel which is supposed to be haunted.

Since it's haunted we decided to take a picture of us making scary faces behind this window. We'd done it before and it was hilarious because the second we stand there to try and be serious Erika starts dying out laughing and can't keep a straight face for a second! The same thing happened this time. We did end up getting one pic of her serious but I like this one where she is cracking up the best.

After we left Estes Park we decided to drive up the mountains to this spot where there is a beautiful overlook of the mountains and watch the sunset. We made it to the spot in the nick of time to see the sun setting behind the mountains. Then we took lots of goofy pics.

Sunday we spent the day in Denver. We ate brunch at the most delicious little place called Jelly Cafe. They have amazing everything. Twas delicious.

Then we walked around 16th Street Mall. And we had our photographer Erika take our kissy pic :)

The next off day I had Connor, Erika and I went hiking in Boulder. We did the Royal Arch trail. It is a hard hike all uphill but when you finally make it to the Arch it really is worth it.

This is the view from the top where the arch is, oh, and a chipmunk. This little guy came right up to us. Erika was ecstatic. She had been trying to get a picture of a chipmunk for days and they never stayed still long enough. This guy was very cooperative. So cute too :)

After working up an appetite hiking we went to Casa Bonita for dinner. I picked up Dave when he got off work and we met Erika and Connor there. 

We enjoyed unlimited amount of mexican food and the cliff divers and the corny as ever skits they put on while you're eating.

And we took another pic outside of Casa Bonita to add to our collection. 

I love him so much.

Memorial Day Weekend 2013

Saturday
Dave and I woke up earlier than normal to go relax by the pool in our apartment complex for the first time. We layed out for a few hours and then we left to get ready for our friends Hope and Jordan to come over and grill out on our new grill!

Ok, ok so that's not really them. I have been addicted to the app Face Swap and this is actually Hope's face on Jordan's body and vice versa. Ha! Jordan doesn't make a very attractive girl-I think it's the mustache ;)

We had a fun night together. Grilling out and laughing our faces off and watching The Hot Chick.

Sunday

I absolutely love Sundays. Dave and myself spent the majority of the day lounging around and snuggling on the couch. We had to rest up for our 10k the next day even though Sunday usually is our lazy day of the week anyways. We did go for a short bike ride and that was nice. 

Sunday night we went to babysit Payton and Grant. They are the cutest. Payton is so smart and cute and she loves Dave. We played hide and seek and that's always entertaining with a 3 year old. Grant was just in the best mood ever. He was just smiling and playing the whole time before bed.

Monday-Memorial Day

We woke up early and headed to Boulder for the Bolder Boulder 10k(6.2 miles). We met Erika and she rode with us. It was a gorgeous day. This was mine and Erika's 2nd year doing it. It's such a fun run. There are sooo many people, but it's so well organized that you can park and get to the start line with no problem and traffic isn't bad getting there or leaving which is awesome for so many people running.

After the race we went over to Erika's and relaxed in the pool. And man did it feel amazing. We just floated around and didn't want to move for a few hours. Then we had grilled out hamburgers for dinner and it was delicious.

After Dave and me left Erika's we went to Good Times to get a frozen custard spoonbender. I mean we deserved it after our run, right? It was delicious.

Such a good long weekend with my love. I wish we could spend even more time together than we already do. I can never see him enough, but I am so thankful for all the time we do get to spend together because it is a whole lot more than a lot of couples out there. 

Friday my nephew Connor is coming to visit from Alabama. He just graduated high school. Yes! High school! I now have a college aged nephew. Man that makes me feel old! haha I can't wait for him to get here. Lots of adventures to be had.

Hiking, Rockies game, and a Lazy Sunday

This past weekend was full of fun. Friday night Dave and me went to his Mom's chorale show. They sang songs from movies and tv shows. My favorite was the Friends theme song(duh!) and the songs from Grease.

Saturday Dave and me woke up early-which is super rare for Dave considering he would sleep til 3PM if I would let him. We headed down south of Denver to hike at Castlewood Canyon State Park. It was a great day for it. The weather was warm but not too hot since it was cloudy that morning. We hiked about 9 miles and then headed home.

Saturday night we went to the Rockies game. Dave, Erika and me met Jordan, Hope and her son Kyler and headed down to the game.

After we got bored of the game Dave, Erika and me decided to walk down to The Cheesecake Factory and get some cheesecake. It was a hilarious time. I was hyper and laughing so hard I cried. haha. Ian met us there and after cheesecake we headed home. Ian and his date came over and we all sat at the table and had some beer and it was fun.

We were up really late so Sunday was a nice relaxing day. We enjoyed cuddling on our new sectional and playing Super Mario World on Super Nintendo-yea it was awesome :)

This next weekend is a 3 day weekend for Memorial Day! Dave, Erika and me are all running in the Bolder Boulder on Monday. Looking forward to another great weekend! 

Hello Summer!

It's been a long time since I've updated this thing but I've been busy. I went back to school this past semester to take a couple classes I need for Nursing school out here in Colorado. And when I wasn't studying I was working my new job watching 2 of the cutest kids in the world...

But what I was doing majority of the time was spending time with the man of my dreams. 

My amazing boyfriend David or as I call him Dave :)

I have never been so happy in my entire life. My previous relationships do not even compare to this one. He is the one. He makes me laugh like no one else. He is the sweetest man and he takes such good care of me. I honestly have no idea where I would be without him and I am beyond happy knowing that I will never have to find that out. I am keeping him forever. Sorry ladies. You missed out.

I decided this Summer I will be updating this a lot more. I am officially starting Nursing School this Fall and I intend on having the best summer of my life so far. I want to remember it so I'm going to try to update the blog a good bit.

The family that Erika works for adopted him back in March. He is so attached to Erika and is basically hers now. He is an Australian labradoodle and is so cute and fluffy you just can't help but say "Aww!" when you see him. He will be joining us a lot this summer on hikes and stuff for sure.

Easter 2012

Erika and me went up to Breckenridge for Easter. They have an Easter egg hunt with 10,000 Easter eggs. But apparently there wasn't much "hunting" of the eggs. Because they were just scattered in plain site on the mountain. We didn't get over to the runs where they were in time to get but 1 egg. Stupid kids got them all :) But we know where to go for next year so we can get lots of eggs.

I've been a resident of Colorado for a year now. AWESOME. Man how things can change in a year. Ask me a year ago where I thought I'd be in a year and it would've been completely not where I am now and you know what?? thats ok. I moved here SO excited to finally be out of boring Alabama and no longer be long distance with my boyfriend. I moved in with a great family to become there nanny and was just excited for a new chapter in my life. Things with the relationship quickly changed from good to bad to terrible. I put up with a heck of a lot more than I should have but in the end I did what was best for me and got out of it and away from the constant emotional abuse I was being put through. Oh the things we do for love. Crazy, stupid love...it really turns us into complete idiots. I can only think of 1 relationship from my past that after it ended I wasn't like "wow why did I put up with all his crap" Where are all the good guys at? Anyways, I could go on about how dumb boys are for hours. haha.

Since February, in addition to nannying, I have been working Friday-Sunday at Lifetime Fitness--which is like the gym of all gyms. Its ridiculous! People definitely take their fitness serious out here. Its HUGE. I work in childcare and watch kids while the parents work out. At the YMCA when I had the same job our max was like 45 kids and we never reached it well here we get to over a 100 kids on most days when I work. So we have a lot of workers. And they are all pretty awesome. Back in February I met a girl who immediately asked me where I was from(cuz of my accent) and when I said Alabama she asked "So are you and Alabama or Auburn fan?" I said "Alabama!" and I knew her answer to that same question would probably determine our friendship. I mean just the fact that she even asked me that I knew that she knew something about college football. She says "me too!" and needless to say we were instantly BFFs.

Meet Hope

I seriously don't know what I would do without her. She just gets me...like a lot of people don't understand my sarcasm and she does and throws it right back at me. I love it. I am so thankful to have her as my best friend. I love you Hope! :)

She is the one who brought me to Merge for the first time. Which is just the name of the service for college students at Flatirons Community Church. It is the best thing to ever happen to me. It's how I know I am where I'm supposed to be and that God is watching over me. I have never looked forward to going to church until now. I love being there. It's a great church with awesome music and always a great message. I know God brought me to Colorado and put Hope in my life for a reason. And I know that whatever happens with other relationships in my life He will always be there. I know that even though I may not always understand why I am put through the tough things that he won't put me through anything I can't handle. And with Him who gives me strength I can do all things :)

Jeez, I gotta go watch Teen Mom guys. I just realized it came on last night...this Labor day thing has me all messed up.
